FIGHTING FOR A CAUSE - Branson, MO

Mike Gormley, Co-Owner of Koster Design, has recently signed a deal to fight on an upcoming Amateur MMA card in August, 2007. Mike, fighting out of Branson, Missouri will make his 125 pound flyweight debut at the Metropolis in Cincinnati, Ohio. Currently his MMA or "Mixed Martial Arts" training includes Boxing, Kickboxing, Submission Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and a strenuous cardio routine.

Modern 'mixed martial arts' (MMA) emerged in 1993 with the Ultimate Fighting Championships, based on the concept of pitting different fighting styles against each other in competition with minimal rules. The techniques utilized in MMA competition generally fall into two categories: striking techniques (such as kicks, knees and punches) and grappling techniques (such as clinch holds, pinning holds, submission holds, sweeps, takedowns and throws).

Gormley's potential opponent is Rob Esquivel, another up and coming fighter out of Texas who will also be making his debut in the August battle. Both of these men will walk into the ring 0-0, only one will walk out with their first mixed martial arts win.
