Lighting designer Kelly Koster, who has been illuminating stages for 20 years, is taking his business into uncharted waters. Koster Design was originally formed to function exclusively as a lighting design company. Koster Design offered lighting design services, AutoCAD and Vectorworks services along with installation support and console programming. With changing times, a heavy need for sales and support arose, which prompted owner Kelly Koster to make a substantial move into the sales area. To manage this, he called upon industry design and sales veteran Mike Gormley, who now owns 25% of Koster Design, and manages all operations of the business. Kelly & Mike have merged their combined 33 years of industry credits to create the new foundation of Koster Design. One of Koster Design’s sales tactics is to invite as many clients as possible to experience LDI each year. Meetings are scheduled and take place inside the manufacturer’s booth so that the customer can see first hand what they are buying and Koster Design has the full backing and resources of the manufacturer during that time.
